How to counter Shields, Armor and Reflectors in Boss Lab

Identify the defense stopping your damage and choose rear pressure, beam weapons, core arcs or a different attack plan.

By Boss Lab XYZ inc.

Counter the actual defense: attack the rear to bypass frontal Shield interception, use beams or melee against reflection, and remember that Tesla bypasses Shield but still faces Armor. These defenses do not share one universal counter.

Front Shield protects an angle

Front Shield intercepts eligible frontal attacks while enabled and intact. Rear attacks bypass that interception and gain the rear damage modifier. Dash is one way to create the position, but you still need your weapons facing and working in range.

Tesla sends a core-only arc that bypasses ordinary Shield allocation. This makes it a useful option to test against a frontal-blocking plan, but its reach and energy demand still constrain the build. A shield counter that cannot reach the target solves little.

Armor reduces core damage

Reactive Armor reduces core damage while its plates survive. Bypassing Shield does not automatically bypass Armor. Repeated pressure can wear defensive modules down, and later weapons may have specifically authored interactions with damage reduction.

Read a loss as an exchange over time. If Armor keeps the enemy alive until the Campaign timer, you may need more effective attacking time, a different weapon interaction or better resources rather than just a rear-angle attempt.

Reflector punishes eligible projectiles

Reflector returns eligible frontal cannon and rocket shots at reduced damage, spending energy and using a cooldown. Beams and melee bypass that reflection mechanic. Rear positioning is another way to avoid its frontal condition.

Before rebuilding, identify the weapon that actually dealt your damage and the defense that stopped it. A laser swap can address reflection while introducing more heat. A melee swap can bypass reflection while creating a pursuit problem. Test the full counter-build, including movement and resource support, rather than treating one replacement part as an automatic win.
